Ceylon Sonata loose leaf black tea is very similar to Ceylon Waltz. Both are from Sri Lanka, but one consists of slightly larger leaves and brews up a cup that is less strong.
We're talking about Sonata, and if you like your black tea to have medium depth with a hint of citrus along with some noticeable yet mild malt tones, then check out a sample size of this tea offered by Adagio.
This tea can be tricky however, and if over-steeped (like some Assam teas), will produce a cup that will go bitter...especially as it starts to cool. Like Ceylon Waltz, give this tea 4 minutes instead of 5 mins. I recommend this length since 5 minutes sort of brings this tea closer to the zone where excess tannins are released which gives tea that fuzzy and bitter taste.
This black tea goes well as both a breakfast or afternoon treat, accompanies food nicely, and is picked up a bit by adding just a little sugar or a splash of milk. Be careful since too much milk will alter the subtle taste of this tea!
