A Quality Glass Tea Kettle

Adagio Teas offers a fine glass tea kettle at a nice price. Compared to others out there, this one has just the right shape to bring water to a quick boil!

It holds 60 ounces of water, has a comfortable grip handle, and is dishwasher safe too. This glass kettle can be used on both gas and electric ranges. At the time of this writing, there are 56 helpful customer reviews on this product, a large majority who rate it very well.

However, one review did state that you shouldn't fill it too high to the top since when it comes to a boil the lid may be forced off...so just watch your water levels. Another stated that the water comes out rather fast, so pour gently. Other then that, this product is great for boiling water for tea!

Some Cons

Since they are made of glass it is obvious that they are not as strong as kettles made from metal materials. If you are a tea drinker who has little toddlers running about, it is better to have a metal kettle rather than glass as it can only add to an injury.

Glass kettles also have a shorter lifespan than metal kettles. While a copper kettle has less durability than a stainless steal kettle, it will still outlast one made from glass.

Another con about a glass kettle is that it will not bring water to a boil as quickly as a metal kettle. Glass is not a good conductor of heat as apposed to metal which is a great heat absorber. It is also recommended that a piece of metal be placed between the kettle and your burner so as not to further shorten your glass kettle's lifespan.

However a glass kettle can be used on either an electric or gas stove.

Some Pros About Glass Tea Kettles

Glass kettles will give you nothing but fresh tasting water, while a copper kettle will give off a metallic taste in the water. They also won't rust as with some cheaper metal kettles which can pose as a health hazzard.

They are relatively cheaper than metal kettles, and come in a decent selection of stylish shapes. The biggest holding no more than 2 liters.

Kids love to watch water boil in them since they are clear giving them the chance to see the little bubbles rise and dance to the top (once again, watch the young ones!). They are also very easy to clean, but do require some delicate care.

Another important thing to mention is to never let glass kettles burn dry! This can result in the glass becoming very brittle and possibly resulting in serious injuries.
