Green Rooibos Tea

Green Rooibos tea is two times healthier than the more common Red Rooibos tea!

Researchers found that the green type of Rooibos had twice the amount of flavonoids and antioxidants than regular Rooibos.

These powerful properties compare to the same health benefits one can expect from drinking green tea, but unlike green tea, this beverage has no caffeine, rather than just tiny amounts.

Some health benefits include:

  • Improves and strengthens the immune system.
  • Helps relieve stomach conditions such as heartburn, nausea, and indigestion.
  • May help diabetics by stabilizing blood sugar levels.
  • Helps lower cholesterol and blood pressure.
  • Slow down the aging of skin by destroying free radicals.

Now like green tea, Green Rooibos is processed in a very similar way.

Once the thin needle-like leaves are harvested, they are broken, withered, and immediately steamed or baked. What this does is stop the oxidation process in the leaves which turns them the normal red color you see in regular Rooibos tea.

Since these leaves are not fully oxidized, they get to maintain more of their antioxidant properties which in turn makes it a more healthier brew.

The taste is also different too. Instead of having the usual sweet nutty taste, the green type of Rooibos tea has more traditional green tea characteristics and is more light and vegetal in taste.

I have not yet tried the Green variety of Rooibos, but will definitely update with a review later on down the line.

If it is anything like green tea, I'm sure I will enjoy it!
