Green Tea Weight Loss Information


In recent years, green tea weight loss has become a big trend. Studies done suggest that green tea aside from its superior health benefits can also aid one to lose weight.

Weight is gained as excess fats and sugars are stored away in the body. This is natural, but of course too much of this storage can lead to obesity and health ailments that are related. No one wants that!


Green teas role in helping you shed those pounds comes from its high levels of catechin polyphenols which work with other chemicals to help stimulate thermogenesis and fat oxidation.

Thermogenesis is the action of the body "heating up" which in turn burns off fat cells.


Drinking several cups of green tea daily (not the bottled kind containing sugar), will help promote a more active metabolism resulting in the natural abatement of fat cells.



In an article written by Janice Kelly for WebMd medical news we learn that green tea has the potential to promote weight loss.

Green tea weight loss studies done show that green tea extract increases the burning of calories which are known to pack on pounds. Scientists have found that either taking green tea capsules or drinking the liquid brew offer the same fat burning benefits.

In a study conducted by Abdul Dulloo from the institute of physiology at the University of Fribourg in Switzerland, researches found that green tea was more effective than caffeine at stimulating thermogenesis during a study done using fatty tissues taken from rats. Their studies conclude a possibility that green tea can offer and help manage obesity.

However more human studies must be done in order to further solidify these claims. Which leads me to...


Green tea weight loss benefits can be obtained, but drinking just green tea alone isn't enough.

One must be willing to change their eating and exercise habits along with properly brewing a nice hot cup of green tea. I suggest, here and throughout my site, that loose leaf tea is the only way to enjoy and receive the most benefits.

Remember, the battle to losing weight is 90 percent mental. Now I'm no professional trainer or even a doctor, but what I can offer is this.

Start off small. Instead of having those potato chips with that sandwich, just have the sandwich. Instead of that soda, have a bottle of fruit juice, or better yet a cup of tea! Have half a serving of dinner instead of a whole plate...cut down in the beginning.
