How To Make Iced Tea With Loose Leaves

On this page you'll learn how to make iced tea using loose leaf tea. This method is simple and is pretty much the same on how folks brew the leaves for hot tea.

Brewing loose leaf iced tea tastes better and also offers greater benefits compared to iced tea you get from bottle or powered form.

The helpful tips below guarantee you get a perfect pitcher of iced tea.

How To Make Iced Tea Steps

  • First you will need your favorite type of tea in loose leaf form in front of you. Almost any type of tea can be chilled, but it is more common to use black tea. Be sure you have enough, because you will be using more leaves than normal.

  • The second step is important! Make sure you use natural spring water and avoid using tap water. The impurities in tap water will interfere with the taste of your tea.
  • Use double the measurements per cup (two teaspoons per cup) and follow the usual brewing temperature and steeping time that came with your loose leaf tea package. For white tea let steep for 5 to 7 minutes. For green tea, let steep for 2 or 3 minutes. For oolong and black tea, let steep for 4 to 5 minutes. For most herbal teas, the usual steeping time is 5 to 7 minutes.
  • Let the tea sit a while until it is room temperature. If you chill it right away, the brew may become cloudy. Once at room temperature, add extra water to make up for the double measurements until desired strength and store in the refrigerator until it is chilled.
  • Serve and enjoy!
