The Krups FLF3 electric kettle closely resembles its rival the Breville Ikon. However, looks are just looks, and it is the benefits and features that declare a winner.
Two noticeable differences are that the water gauge is located on the side for the Krups, instead of behind the handle as with the Breville. Another is that the Breville has a stainless steel exterior on the base, while the Krups FLF3 electric kettle has a plastic exterior.
But once again those are just looks...let's see how it stacks up:
Krups FLF3 Pros
no complaints about a plastic taste in water (as with the FLF2 model)
heats water fairly quick, even when completely full
sports a large easy grip handle
looks very nice and fits most kitchen styles
convenient cord storage under base
large water level display
easy to lift & lightweight despite its size
great water capacity
Krups FLF3 Cons
cheap plastic parts along with stainless steel construction
some folks complain about the lid getting stuck
exterior gets very hot (a common problem with most kettles)
not a very quiet kettle when in use
craftsmanship does not justify price
Through research, those are the most cons I could dig up, and it seems to have more benefits vs. complaints
It does cost $70 retail, just five bucks more than the Breville, looks great, and offers everything a kettle of that price should, minus an audible "ding" to let you know when the water is hot and ready.
It is not too big, and its weight allows it to be traveled with.
The Krups FLF3 electric kettle is great for making hot water for tea, instant coffee, instants soups, oatmeal, etc. Would look attractive in the office and is perfect for dorms too!
I think the Krups got this one right, and it definitely holds its own compared to other models, all while receiving less cons.
