Lipton iced tea comes in third out of the bottled iced tea category.
They call it the "brisk tea" and brisk it is. Even when it becomes warm, it still manages to keep a cool flavor (I don't literally mean room temperature!)
However it is a bit on the sweet side, and less on the tea side, with more sugar and lemon notes being present than actual tea taste...at least that is how I feel. :)
It is not bad for a tea that wasn't brewed using whole loose tea leaves, but still can't avoid carrying the bottled tea characteristics associated with commercial teas.
So why am I writing these pages about bottled teas when I prefer iced tea made from whole leaves?
Well, using Lipton iced tea as an example, I can demonstrate to folks who have not yet experienced loose-leaf-brewed iced tea, how superior the TRUE tea flavor is compared to store bought brands.
It's the same like comparing hot tea brewed from loose leaves over tea bags, which I also bring up a lot on my site! The flavor from loose leaf is far greater, and offers more health benefits as well. The same goes for homemade loose leaf iced tea vs. bottled tea.
However, Lipton iced tea is a convenient way to get decent iced tea if you are away from home and are in the mood for something cold and sweet! Snapple and Arizona brands are also worth trying as well.
But if you never made iced tea using loose leaves, I recommend you try it. It is simple and fun to make, and it is you who controls how sweet it is also...know pre-bottled stuck taste. Just find your favorite loose leaf tea, brew it, and chill it!
