Oolong Tea And Weight Loss Information

The following oolong tea and weight loss information is interesting, but, should be accompanied by proper dieting and exercise. Always consult your doctor before long-term consumption since all tea does contain some caffeine.

oolong tea and weight loss

In China, tea has been used for medicine since ancient times, and has been known to control obesity for some time. Since then, many studies released enforce and reveal the many effects of tea.

A bunch of wu long tea weight loss studies were done in recent years, and the findings look promising for folks who are interested in a healthier lifestyle.

Obesity is caused by excess fat accumulating in the body, and is viewed differently as just being overweight. Oolong tea (wu long) can help, here's why...

The research on oolong tea and weight loss.

The abundance of polyphenols found in oolong tea is quiet effective in controlling obesity. They help activate thermogenesis which increases fat oxidation in the body.

In one experiment using lab rats, the rats were divided into 3 groups. One group was given normal feed and water, another group given feed containing excess calories and fat, plus water, and the third was given the same high calorie feed but with oolong tea instead of water.

The results showed that the rats that had the oolong tea with their feed had accumulated less fat than the two other groups.

In another study, this one involving humans, 75 participants who were obese with age differences between 22 and 68, were asked to consume two cups of oolong tea a day; one in the morning and one in the evening.

They had to do this for six weeks and were asked not to influence the results by exercising or taking dietary supplements.

After the six weeks, 67% of the participants had lost weight proving that compounds in oolong tea can increase the metabolism and control obesity.

In another related study done in 2001, Physiologist Dr. William Rumpler of the US Agriculture Research Services' Diet and Human Laboratory, investigated oolong tea and weight loss possibilities.

His study measured how tea influences "energy expenditure" (known as EE). The volunteers included 12 men who were given four different beverage formulas.

The beverages were:

1) full strength oolong tea.
2) water containing caffeine equal to the full strength oolong.
3) half strength oolong tea.
4) and regular water (no caffeine).

After just 24 hours the results showed that the full strength oolong tea increased EE by 3% over the non-caffeinated water, increased fat oxidation by 12% versus the caffeinated water, and burned 67 extra calories!

When you boil it down, these studies indicate that drinking oolong tea can actually tell your body to lose weight!

With more oolong tea and weight loss studies conducted in the future, this beverage will not only replace green tea as the better fat reducer, but also find its way in more homes. At least this is what I believe.

Of course proper exercise and dieting will help contribute to these benefits along with overall well-being.

Drink oolong tea not just for the benefits, but for the flavor and enjoyment too!
