Sweet & Nutty Rooibos Red Tea

Rooibos red tea by itself has a sweet and nutty taste that most loose leaf tea drinkers can enjoy.

There are mild bitter notes as it goes down, but that goes unnoticed after about 4 cups. The aftertaste is smooth and does not leave anything distasteful on the palate.

Rooibos brew a dark reddish cup very similar to Ceylon black tea, yet yields a more noticeable aroma. Especially the flavored ones! Which brings me to...

If one wishes to change the pace, Rooibos tea comes in a decent variety of natural infused flavors.

Some include:

  • Vanilla
  • Almond
  • Apple Cinnamon
  • Mango
  • Tropical flavors
  • Orange
  • Peach
  • Caramel
  • and more

My favorites are "Almond" and "Apple Cinnamon", but sometimes a plain cup will do as well.

That is the thing I love about tea...there is always a huge variety to choose from, which means there will always be a new cup to look forward to and experience!

Although Rooibos red tea may fall a little short with its infused varieties, it is definitely in my opinion the best herbal tea!

It offers the same health benefits as tea, plus an added bonus by containing no caffeine.

Brewing Rooibos is easy and pretty much the same one would brew black tea.

I mention on other pages that Rooibos is grown only in a small region of South Africa and the harvesting techniques remained the same for generations.

With more news of its delightful benefits reaching the western world, Rooibos red tea may soon find its way on the menu at notable coffee shops and chilled in bottles next to iced tea.

It's already happing in fact as some online merchants where I buy my loose leaf tea from now offer Rooibos as well.
