If you want to know what the best white tea is then this is it. Silver Needle white tea is the most prized of the white teas, and is grown in the Fujian Province of China.
The tea has tiny fuzzy silvery white hair on the needle shaped buds which earns it its name. When these buds open up in your infuser, a wonderful light aroma treats your nose, along with a light taste that is distinct from all other white tea.
Silver needle tea is the highest grade of white, and is also known as “Yinzhen” tea. The closed buds are picked very early in the spring and ONLY the top tips are selected.
Silver Needle white tea is the most common white tea in the United States, and will become more and more popular in coming years as both a green tea alternative and natural health beverage.
This tea has a green cousin called "Green Needle" tea (which I am yet to try at the time of this writing) that resembles Silver Needle's pointy appearance.
While Silver Needle tea is not my absolute favorite of tea overall, it remains one of my favorite varieties of white tea. If I find myself wanting something that stands out from the rest while searching the tea cupboard, my hand automatically reaches for it!
