Song Yang white tea from Adagio teas brews a cup that is similar to white peony tea, but is lighter and less sweeter in flavor.
This white tea is quite mild, even when two teaspoons per 8 ounce mug is steeped. I find that this light loose leaf white tea would make a great starter tea to newcomers. Even though white peony in my opinion offers more to the palate, this tea provides just enough notes to the tea drinker and is a perfect evening beverage that helps calms the mind.
For a more stronger cup, add more leaves rather than let steep longer, I found that this works. Also, water quality is a factor as with all teas, so be sure it is well filtered or natural spring water with low mineral content.
This white tea is grown in the Zhejian region of China and has been harvested since the Tang Dynasty dating back to 618. Made carefully by hand, this white tea is indeed unique and it is stated that about three thousand leaves go into making just one pound of this delicate tea.
White tea in general is very low in caffeine and is a great choice for folks who are sensitive to this stimulant.
