There are several ways to prepare multiple cups of loose tea; using the TriniTEA electric tea maker is just one of them. But is this rather large "tea pot" worth the steep (and current) $99?
Pros
For folks who frequently entertain guests where tea is always on the menu, then having this product isn't such a bad idea. It's simplicity allows a sort of "set it and forget it" way of brewing loose teas. Whether they be white, green, black, or herbal types, this electric tea maker gets the job done.
It features only three knobs on the front...one for on/off, one for temperature, and one for steeping time. All you have to do is measure the desired amount of tea and water, then apply the appropriate settings for brewing; (most loose teas will come with instructions).
It only takes a couple of minutes for the water to heat up and prepare the tea, very similar to how a coffee maker will perform. When the machine is finished a final beep will sound and a heated plate beneath the removable glass pot will keep the tea warm before serving.
When compared to other and more expensive models, the TriniTea holds its own in the areas of quality, quantity, durability, and speed. It has a common countertop look and will pass as a coffee brewer.
So, if you find yourself making several cups of tea for the family each day, frequently entertain, or just like having more than one cup of tea at a time, this $99 investment would not be a poor decision.
Also, the TriniTEA is easy to clean and is dishwasher safe.
Cons
Some things folks do not like about this product is that it is rather large and takes up room on the counter. The newer model does not filter out all of the powdery residue some loose teas expel (an easy fix with a paper filter), and there is no programmable timer for auto start. Other complaints on Adagio's customer reviews section is that it is tricky to poor without spilling, and that the steeping chamber does not slide in easily once the glass carafe is in place.
Other cons are that it is not worth the money for a single person making only a cup of tea at a time and that there are limited instructions on how to operate it. For newcomers to the TriniTEA, it may take several uses to get into the "zone" of how it perfectly prepares specific varieties of tea.
When it comes down to it...some may feel a simple tea mug infuser or paper filter set in a pot or mug will do the trick without the hassle.
