White Peony tea from Adagio was my first loose leaf tea experience, and still remains my favorite white tea. This beverage has a mild sweet and fruity taste with very little vegetal notes being present. Just enough to give this delicate beverage some plant-like character.
I enjoy this tea very much, and think it makes a perfect after dinner or evening cup due to its subtle flavor and low caffeine content. Great for when you’re not in the right mood for oolong tea after a meal. My only gripe which I noticed is that this white tea tends to get old fast losing most of its fruitiness and sort of goes "flat" or bland. If ordering a large tin, be sure and finish it up before 5 months!
Also called "Pai Mu Tan", this white tea is grown in the Fujian Province of China, and the buds are picked in early spring before they fully open up.
For folks who want to experience a light tasting cup of tea, I recommend you give this white tea a go.
Heat well filtered water until steaming (not boiling!) and let brew for 4 to 7 minutes depending on desired strength.
