White Symphony white tea kind of falls in the middle between Silver Needle white tea and White Peony tea. It is not as fruity as White Peony, but not as mild as Silver Needle although it does have a delicate clean aftertaste.
The appearance of the leaves resembles White Peony, but this loose white tea produces a somewhat lighter liquor with a more airy aroma. The flavor notes range from slightly sweet to mildly vegetal that also has hints of pine-like floral tones.
Brewing it for 4 to 5 minutes in 180 degree water gives this tea a nice balance of flavor and color. I have found that steeping for the whole 7 minutes as labeled on the tin yields a more vegetal taste and not as clean or fruity when compared with the 4 to 5 minute steep.
But those are just my taste buds...we're all different.
Like other Chinese white tea, this variety is not strong or overwhelming, has very little caffeine, and is another good choice for folks who prefer a light tasting beverage that calms the mind.
Adding honey to this beverage does sweeten it up a bit, but use caution on how much is measured so as not to overpower this tea’s delicate flavor.
White Symphony white tea is grown and produced in China, although at the time of this writing Adagio Teas does not provide the exact province it comes out from. What is said is that this variety is a more refined version of their White Peony tea.
In addition, at the time of this writing, this tea earns the second highest score in the customer review ratings!
